GenWeb Site

Welcome to the Dawson County, Montana GenWeb site. Dawson County is one of the original counties formed in 1869. At one time it comprised a majority of Eastern Montana. The county seat is Glendive with other communities of Richey, Lindsay and Bloomfield. Glendive was a railroad town, being set up by the Northern Pacific Railway. It was for many years a major railway facility and had one of the few railway hospitals on the NP route. The hospital latter became the Glendive Medical Center. In addition to the railway, agricultre is a major part of the economy. Glendive is also the home to Dawson Community College, one of three community colleges in Montana.
